Wondering what a cheesy quaver raver is?
Check out a new acquisition to the Reference collection, The New Partridge Dictionary of Slang and Unconventional English (Reference PE 3721 N532 2006). Here you can find out that a chestbonz is "the marijuana smoker who takes the greatest inhalation from a shared water-pipe" (Volume 1, p. 383) or that in Australia a Repat is "a hospital for repatriated service personnel" (Volume 2, p. 1609) or that "textile" used as an adjective describes someone with clothes on (Volume 2, p. 1946).
By the way a cheesy quaver raver is "a member of a social grouping within the hardcore raveculture, characterized by a fashion for boiler suites, white gloves and paint masks" (Volume 1, p. 381) Why? "After Quavers, a cheese flavoured snack food, punning on 'cheesy' (unfashionable) and using raver (a party goer)", of course!
