Criminal Justice Abstracts not working?

***I should add that this problem seems to come and go (re: Mark's comment), and doesn't always present itself. ***

I've dealt with a couple of students over the past week or so who have had the same problem when trying to use Criminal Justice Abstracts. Normally what happens is that the database allows you to do a search, but if you try to view a complete record, it brings up an error screen with 'webspirs error' or something like that.

This is now more than an occasional flukey problem, as I see from the LiveHelp transcripts that the evening vref people have also had questions from students encountering the same thing. It has also happened to me here from my office computer. Has anyone else had this problem?

I just tried it from Windows and Mac with 4 different browsers and did not get any errors Karen. I will try and remember to try it from home tonight as well.

I tried it from off-campus with my laptop and had no issues with Firefox or MSIE 6.0 on WinXP Pro. All appears fine.

I worked with a student Tues. morning who was using the Crim. Just. Abs. for over 30 minutes from on-campus without an error (though it would be nice if the words/terms used in the search form were remembered/persisted especially for the advanced search)

My suggestion - clear the cache and restart the browser (all open copies) and see if the problem happens again.

I reported this same problem to John on the weekend.

How do you clear the cache?

Start a new browser? (out with the old, in with the new?)
