The University of Winnipeg's RefWorks account will be crossing the 49th parallel on April 30, 2007. With concerns raised about the privacy of Canadian data stored in the United States, we have decided to transition our installation of RefWorks to ScholarsPortal, which is hosted out of the University of Toronto's Robarts Library. I will post an item to Library News next week, however, here are the important points:
1) RefWorks will be unavailable for 2-3 hours during the migration on April 30.
2) The new address for RefWorks will be http://refworks.scholarsportal.info
3) If people use downloaded utilities such as Write N Cite or RefGrabIt, they will need to re-download them from the Scholars Portal site in order to work with our new installation. Returning students may not find out about this until they return in September, so you may get questions then.
4) Some of our databases that have the ability to export directly to RefWorks (i.e. ProQuest) will need to be updated with the new information. This has to take place after the migration occurs, so there may be a small window where people are not able to add directly to RefWorks (though they could still do a manual import).
