Workers Compensation Board 2006 Community Initiatives & Research Program

Workers Compensation Board (WCB) 2006 Community Initiatives & Research Program (CIRP)

The WCB is inviting applications for funding consideration through the 2006 CIRP. The priority areas for 2006 focus on preventing workplace injuries and illnesses; returning injured workers to meaningful work; or understanding and addressing the special needs arising from occupational disease claims. All applications that address the mandate of the CIRP will also be considered.

Those interested in applying for a grant can visit the WCB website at www.wcb.mb.ca to obtain a copy of the 2006 Stage One Program Overview and Guidelines as well as the full details on the 2006 areas of priority. The deadline to submit a Stage One letter of intent is April 14, 2006.

The WCB is offering up to $1 million to consider the applications received. As a general guideline, projects will be considered which require funding of up to $100,000 for a 12 month period with a duration of up to two years. However, projects requiring greater funding and duration will also be considered if they meet the overall criteria of the program.

The CIRP is a two-staged process. Stage One consists of a brief letter of intent, not more than 5 pages, in 14 point font.

Letters of Intent will be reviewed and evaluated for project quality, feasibility, and potential benefits to stakeholders. Stage Once applicants invited to Stage Two will be required to submit a full proposal..

The awarding of grants is made by the Board of Directors; their decisions will be communicated towards the end of 2006. Projects selected will not commence until 2007, following the endorsement of a contract with the WCB, outlining the terms and conditions under which the funding will be provided.
