Hi Everyone,
Number of calls: 4
Issues:
1. The first call was about searching for journal titles using the library toolbar. The user could not connect through the toolbar. I tried but actually clicked on “Search Journal Articles” and this link worked. So I told the user the “Search Journal Titles” link worked. However it was not working. Later I found out from CJ that the reason was I did not put anything in the search box. The other links in the toolbar direct the user to the search page even without anything put into the search box, but the “Search Journal Titles” cannot.
2. The third call was asking how to get the tables of contents for all issues of a particular journal published in 2005. It seems that the only way is to look through each individual issue published in that year. I also double-checked with the Reference Desk and they agreed with me.
3. The fourth call was asking if I could extend their account expiry date. The user wanted to access the databases today, but their account already expired. The user said they were going back to school tomorrow with the proof of registration. I referred the user to the Reference Desk because I don’t know how to handle this situation.
Thanks!
Rachel

Thanks Rachel. I'll work on the Journal Titles search and see if we can get them directed to a more useful page.
Getting the table of contents for all issues of a particluar year may be possible by going to the journal's website. Often, they have the table of contents for previous issues listed.
Questions about accounts are dealt with by circulation staff. We only reset PINs or add an email address. In this case, they will have to present proof of registration in person to circ staff.
Thanks!

The Journal Titles search from the Library Toolbar has been fixed, so now always a search tool shows up (rather than the message that says Connection Failed).

Thank you, CJ. This would be really helpful to students.
